the donald jump bike Title: mayday jump around Location: swinley Description: For those of us old enough to know better but stupid enough to own a “jump” bike a midweek trip to test these things and ourselves out. Date: 1st May 2012 Start Time: 10:00 End Time: 15:00 [...] the hills are alive… The annual cakeriders jaunt to Wales saw us go to the north of the country for 2012. Basing ourselves at the Trawsfynydd Log Cabin Holiday Village we were joined for 2012 by not only the Donald twins but also the northern cakeriders in the form of Tony, Simon and Ben. [...] bit of fettling So after much searching around the interweb the bits were finally in my sweaty palm to get the remedy up and running. Bearings had already been replaced and the ever reliable tftuned supplied bushings and mounting kit so just needed to get the thing fitted before riding (and in readiness for [...] After a McBreakfast on a cold Saturday morning on the last day of March, it was time for the Northern Branch to get to Sherwood Pines for a little pre-Easter mess about. A ride straight to the jump park put us right in with the kids. Oh no. So after a quick play on the [...] pod and rich on collarbone corner The early morning mist and forestry work meant that early reliance on podnav could have been misplaced. Fortunately though the rest of were confused by the changing landscape resulting from large scale tree felling podnav knew exactly where he was and was able to lead us to some [...] simon and tony dualing After attending a couple of courses between us Simon, Tony and myself decided that rather than working we would spend a Friday practicing and messing about at Chicksands. After finally finding the carpark and waiting for the fog to lift it was time to try and get the wheels rolling…the [...] No clever content or photo, but what a way to get back in the saddle after nearly four months off the bike. Courtesy of my fit as f@&k friend, I got nearly three hours of quality night riding in Cann Wood just outside Plymouth including what can only be described as doing downhill in the [...] 2 folks riding pump track badly Following on from the nothern branch lee quarry report and the fact we were in the area myself, cathy and stru decided to take a jaunt to see what all the chat had been about. After a bit of debate about where to park and then where to [...] spring mist The first of our 2 rides in the north west was a bit of a cross country jaunt in the hills around Buxton. Typical of riding in this area it included a lot of stony ups and a few short sharp downs. [...] wooden berm I think that just about covers it and is far far more than I thought we would cover, even though I have been to see Tony on a couple of courses before. I had booked a one-to-one session with ukbikeskills to get some confidence back a couple of riding set-backs at the [...] |
