Northern ride out – early May

Sherwood Pines - Ben and Simon
Ben showing Simon how to ride at Sherwood Pines

Let me know if you are interested in a ride out in early May with the Northern Branch.

We’re planning to ride in the White Peaks (with Rich guiding) on 5th May. Rich has got a great route over towards Chatsworth and Bakewell.

Then on 6th May, we can go for a mess about on some of the less used trails at Sherwood Pines. There’s not much elevation there, so we will find some of the more technical stuff to session and and hopefully we can keep away from the tourist routes.

To confirm your interest, just add a reply below.

I could well be up for this, will not long be back from a week of riding in Spain so will be expecting sunshine and dusty trails!!

Hmmm… Not sure about dusty trails. We may have plenty of mud though!

  • Rich

Have faith Tony – it’ll be dusty trails. Peaks route will be different from what Ben and me did at the weekend.

What are the plans for the Peaks ride this weekend?
(got to sort out when to travel up, where to stay etc)

Saturday – Rich, are you OK confirming the plan?

Sunday – Meet up at the local McDonalds at 10am for a McBreakfast(post code NG22 9DT). Then go to Sherwood Pines (post code NG21 9JL). The car park fee is £4 per car. There is a bike shop, cafe and Go Ape on site.

There’s little elevation and its relatively small, compared to most trail centres. So we can find a few of the more interesting areas and session the features.

Some areas are busy (such as the tabletops, the wooden jumps and the main descent lines). Other areas are very quiet where you won’t see a soul all day. We can pick and choose what we want to do on the day. Just have a messabout. It won’t be a “Big-Ride” day that’s for sure!

Well there are two options really – 1: ride from here in sunny Rowsley – there are some great options around here with plenty of trails. 2: head up to the Hope Valley and ride up there. Ian has history with this area and so may want to get up there. If so, a good option would be to ride from Edale and do Jacob’s Ladder (up!) then head around to come down Cave Dale. See how you feel nearer the time…! Probably would be more like a ‘Big-Ride’ day!

Don’t mind where we ride, “big-ride” day might make sense as there will be no route as such on Sunday.

Just need to sort out movements and travel stuff I guess…
